Winter weather advisory
Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Mayor Reiman and the Department of Public Works advises residents and commuters to make preparations for a potential winter storm on Wednesday, continuing into Thursday.

The Mayor and Council warn that the snow is likely to impact the day's commute, and that unnecessary travel is not recommended.

Motorists are encouraged to check for current road conditions at the New Jersey Department of Transportation website: www.NJ511.info.

Mixed snow and sleet are expected to affect the area Wednesday through Thursday. The National Weather Service Bureau has predicted up to several inches of accumulation.

Please remember that by ordinance, homeowners and business owners are responsible for removing snow and ice from public walkways adjacent to their property within 24 hours of the storm's conclusion. Business owners are also responsible for clearing driveways and parking lots and making them safe within the same time frame.

Depositing removed snow into public streets or private property is prohibited. Parking cars on designated snow emergency routes before they have been cleared is also prohibited.

For your own convenience, you are encouraged to park your vehicle(s) off of other public right of ways to allow for more efficient plowing.
